a bug softie

Finally I have finished a new softie! It took me quiet a while to make it.

I had the idea to make this softie for some time. Maybe you already noticed – but maybe you didn’t – but I have two blogs. My other blog ( in Dutch) is about nature. I take a lot of pictures of the things I see around me. And last summer I saw this little bug.

And I must say that I really like how it looks: the stripes on the back and the spots on his tummy. It’s called Graphosoma lineatum (says Wiki). But I like his dutch name: Pyjamawants. If you translate it, it means something like “bug in PJ’s” 🙂

So I had this idea of making a softie that looked like it, but I couldn’t find the right fabric. I then decided to make it myself. I just bought red and black fabric and started to sew it together.

And finally I had these parts……..

smartphone cosy

After making a tea cosy and egg cosies I decided it was time to make another kind of cosy: a smartphone cosy 😉

No, just kidding, the idea came after I got myself a new smartphone and the protective cover of the old one didn’t fit the new one. First I bought one that was especially made for this new mobile. But after a while I decided it wasn’t especially made for me – I just didn’t like it.

So that was the moment I started to crochet one myself. And: it fits and I like the feeling of it. White might not have been the best of choices and I’ve seen pictures of others which are much more colourful, but I like it simple and at the moment it still is kind of white 😉
